The main difference to most competitive products is that PowerFolder is built on an own sync core which integrates an own syncing protocol, which incorporates a peer to peer architecture to create a highly efficient syncing strategy. Desktop clients don't necessarily need to sync with the server, they can also sync with each other, which saves bandwidth and load on the server side.
