The 'PowerFolder Outlook Add-In' is an integration of PowerFolder in Microsoft Outlook.

This add-in was developed to make sending with PowerFolder much more convenient.

The 'PowerFolder Outlook Add-In' uploads attachments from e-mails to a PowerFolder server and generates download links for them.

These attachments are uploaded in encrypted form. It is also possible to secure these attachments with a password.

The recipient receives an e-mail with download links for the specified attachments.

Sharing files with emails has never been easier.

Installation

Before you install the 'PowerFolder Outlook Add-In', make sure that you have installed the .Net Framework 4.5.

It is also necessary to have a PowerFolder account.

This add-in officially supports Microsoft Office 2013 and Office 2016.

Download the PowerFolder Outlook Add-In.
Double-click on the file 'PowerFolder Outlook Add-In' and follow the installation instructions.
Restart Outlook to use the 'PowerFolder Outlook Add-In'.

Configuration

The configuration of the 'PowerFolder Outlook Add-In' is quite simple.

First enter your server address and your access data in the settings, you can do this by clicking on the 'PowerFolder' tab.


  • Option 1: Opens the settings.
  • Option 2: Gives you the option to create a new account, visit the PowerFolder homepage and also shows you the documentation.
  • Option 3: Checks for an update and downloads it.

Since we want to configure our plugin, let's click on “Option 1” to open the “Settings”.


  • Option 1: You should enter your server address here.
  • Option 2: Enter your username here.
  • Option 3: Enter your password here.

You can then click on “OK” to save your access data.


As the PowerFolder Outlook Add-In allows you to add additional options to your generated FileLinks, you can set default values for them.

You can do this by using 'Option 4' and 'Option 5' on the image above.

Option 4: Enter a maximum number of downloads for your file to be downloaded.

Option 5: Enter the validity in days for your file.

  • If Outlook is configured via Microsoft Exchange Server, the size of the attachment is limited to 20 MB. The limit can be changed in the Exchange Server settings (see https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2813269).
  • If Outlook is connected to a Microsoft Exchange Server or an IMAP server, the size of each attachment is limited to the maximum quota of the mailbox.The limit can be changed by increasing the maximum quota of the mailbox.
